Certainly sounds like a sensor fault....

Has the owner been splashing through puddles recently in this inclement weather we are currently having??

If so, whilst they are designed to get wet, as they age their tolerance to water/dirt et al is reduced....

Also if it has been jacked up via the chassis, or long articulation has occured, this can drag dirt across the wiper surface in the sensor and now it cant get a good signal to determine correct height information.....

The Wammer or Datatek are more clued up on the EAS than most so I could be way off, but I shouldn't think it will hurt to have a squirt of Electrical Contact cleaner on the multiplugs to ensure good contact is being had too.....make sure it is ELECTRICAL CONTACT CLEANER not WD40....
