Just replaced front left height sensor due to EAS Fault FL signal error.

Original was 360 degree type but replacement is 160 degree with bracket.

There is no way the bracket with 2 holes & 2 studs will fit the existing holes and line up properly.

I fitted it without the bracket & it appeared to be working until calibration.

When I get sensor heights using RSW software, they are as follows with heights set correctly...

190 124

126 119

Obviously front left is not close to others so assume the bracket is needed.

I now get EAS fault FL Valve not shut.

I have rebuilt the compressor so air pressure is good.
I have tried a replacement EAS block with the same fault code.

I can only assume the supplied sensor or bracket is incorrect.

Thoughts please.

The bracket will fit and is necessary to attach the heat shield ! have another go, I presume you removed the old type bakerlite shield and replacing with the metal bracket ?

There should not be a bracket on a 95 just a sensor and plastic sensor cover. Bracket for heat shield is only fitted to 1997 and on vehicles. You have the wrong sensor.

No such thing as a 360 degree sensor, it was bust.
You need the mounting plate.
EAS Fault FL Valve not shut is because the sensor reading is wrong.

They now send out the new sensor with a loom and mounting plate Tony. Old ones seem to be finished.

Old sensors (pre 97) still available from Island 4x4 and Rimmers. The mounting bracket is for the heat shield not for mounting the sensor. From what i can see old sensors and new sensors fit in a different orientation. New sensors will not fit old cars without mods. The one shown in another post from P38 spares is seriously over the top money wise. :)

Thanks for all the opinions everyone.
The kit I got was from Island 4x4 and looks like the kit shown.
The bracket does not line up with holes in the car without the sensor misaligned.
Must have the wrong kit.
Will check with Island 4x4 tomorrow and report back.

Hiya,

Similar fun with mine (see other thread). The FL doesn't have a bracket on mine, only FR for heatshield. However, mine does need the flylead (which seems to act as a crossover). I've now received the flylead from Emmotts (not tested yet) which is the flylead with the green lead someone else was mentioning.

Angle of the 'new type' sensor on mine had the socket at about 7 o'clock.

hope that helps.

Marc

Slight Hijack I know but my EAS question doesn't warrant another thread.

the missus took all her mates out last night (short mates) so in the course of the evening she lifted and lowered the bus several times. On the way home she got in started the engine and got a solid row of EAS lights and an EAS fault warning which then cleared at the first drop off point.. Was this just overwork or should I be worried. Performed without a hitch today between normal and motorway.

A soft fault possibly just lack of air pressure due to a worn compressor.
How old are the airbags?
