Hi guys,

I have a P38 2.5DSE and have something I can't find elsewhere in other threads. The issue is that when I sit at a junction with my foot on the brake the EAST pump kicks in. When I lift my foot it stops. Put my foot back and it kicks back in. I can understand this happening immediately after braking when the car has nosedive but not when it is level and sat still.

Any thoughts??

Cheers

Explained many times, when road speed drops to 1 mph both front valves open to equalise pressure across the axle, If there is more pressure in one side than other because of load front may drop. Front will not rise until brake is released. EAS is disabled when brake is on, enabled when brake is released or after a two minute period if brake is applied for that amount of time. Are you sure it's the EAS compressor and not the ABS pump. EAS compressor cannot normally be heard running. If it is making a noise investigate why.

As Wammers has said it's much more likely to be your ABS pump. If that's operating every time you press the brake pedal then your accumulator is about as much good as a lace durex.
