hi all im new to range rovers got a p38 dse last week, now i bought the car with an eas fault, it said that the car was pumped up to medium ride (seemed a bit high to me though) height, after investigation the rear pipes going into the eas unit have been disconected and modified with car tyre valves for an air line the front 2 are still conected, i quickly released one of the front ones and air escaped and the front went down to where i wanted it, now im not mechanical in any way but to me that says the compressor is working? i have a eas unlock cd but havent plugged into car yet, all 4 lights are on on the dash, orange warning light and slow 35mph warning on read out, i cant do any work till the weekend because i work away just wanted to get some idea where to start from the experts first, thanks for any help, bob:)

Put all the pipework back to how it should be, then read and clear the faults. RE-read the faults and the ones that remain will indicate where the problem lies.

I thought my first post was very helpful and my second quite factual and humerus
Datatek
To the OP you may find there was actually nothing really wrong with bar the fact the car had been standing a while the suspension has gone down and the air tank is empty and the previous owner never rant the system long enough to charge the tank
As Datatek has posted reconnect everything back as it should be and reset the eas

don't forget after resetting exit the eas programme switch the ignition off, unplug the obd2 lead and then switch the ignition back on.
If eas is eas is now out of lock out mode run the car but leave a door open this will charge the tank. This can take 15 mins or so, shut all doors and boot and the suspension should go up

Datatek is now in on the secret
His eas knowledge is second to none perhaps apart from wammers' knowledge lol
You will find the eas problems far easier to sort than you think the fact you have a problem is probably more related to the fact the car is 14 years old

ok so i connected the laptop up with the rr but the car doesnt seem to recognise it, ive made sure the comm port is correct but when i initialize it just keeps scrolling on the tx side and just get 2 or 3 pp's on the rx side, cant get a good idle

If you cant get good idle ie continuous green light then id say you are not on the right com port, so try others

Either the comms port is wrong as Nathan said, or your USB to serial adaptor has the wrong drivers, highly likely if you are using Vista or 7, or lastly the OBD connector in the car is corroded. I assume you have the correct EAS serial cable? (If you bought it from me ignore that):)

lol datatek, ive tried it on my mate xp laptop aswell, i went through all the comms today it was reading on 3 and4 but the idle kept flashing from green to red quickly, but i pressed the unlock button and read and cleared the faults anyway. this however didnt reset the eas and now i cant get it to read on any comms, please help data lol
