Once again, I've searched the forum and couldn't see an answer, so...here goes:
Got an early Disco 1 and the MOT man said No.
It's the links between the axle and the rear antiroll bar. Problem is - they're not the same as the bits that all the LR parts people show on the web.
This Disco did not have links with a ball joint at one end and the axle fitting points are different.
Anyone give me some info on this, please? Need some replacement parts.

Failing that - what does Mr MOT think if you just remove the bar completely?

If it is an aftermarket one you can remove all trace of it , then MOT it no problem.

Is it on old springs and shocks ? , if so it may handle like a bag of **** :D .

Deffo aftermarket or home grown

I'd take it off , but if you do want to keep it you could make some links up using rod end type joints .

I can't agree that it's home-grown as the parts are too well made.
There's no sign on the axle of any other bracketry having been cut off - I had a look under a '95 Disco in the car park and the brackets on that axle are stout and obvious.

If the original vehicle came out of the factory with front and rear a/r bars, why retro-fit with after-market bit thats not as good?

It all looked pretty original, except for the bolt and bearing assembly (not in the photos) that goes though the open eye on the link - they were too knackered to tell whether they were original or a bodge.

Early 200's never had them fitted , on later one's that had them, brackets are welded to the chassis not bolted, same on the axle .

OK Dent, thanks for that info.
I'll have a look at seeing whether the vehicle can be 'adapted' to take the OEM parts. Looks like a mod to that lower fixing might do it.
It's going to be used on the road, mostly, so keeping the roll down would be nice.
Richard - I hadn't noticed the missing stop - it's my sons motor so I try not to get too grubby underneath it. Cheers chaps.
