IMPORTANT NOTE - TO ANYONE THINKING OF TRYING THIS - DONT :eek:

Or at least read the whole thread - You have been warned

I have decided to fit my own snorkel as no one has time to help me

I have the snorkel kit and some sealant and a sealant gun.

I know (I did a search) that it fits to the air vent on the passenger side. Apparently if I take the grill off it fits into there.

I know there might be a drain hole inside somewhere I need to block up and another one in the air filter. I will need a drill to drill holes somewhere also.

So to the questions which I didn't find in the search.

1) Does the bit behind the grill connect to the air filter already, as in I dont have to do anything about that.

2) How to I block these drain holes behind the grill and in the air filter.

3) Is there anything else I need to know

4) Apart from screw drivers and drill, do I need more tools

5) How do I test that I have done it right.

Its a Defender 200 tdi and I have got the right snorkel that fits on the passenger side.

Thanks

Nrgserv usually helps but he is busy at the moment. I got the instructions out and thought "how hard can it be"

Unfortunately I have got as far as lifting the bonnet and cant find how to get the grill off the wing. The Haynes manual is useless as I cant find the instructions in it. I was expecting screws ???

Its OK LZ to the rescue, it just pulls off with a screwdriver :D:D

Take the screws out the wing (air vent thing) use your hand an force it up it will unplug from pipe work inside wing an then it will have a oval shaped piece that go's to a round piece connecting to a piece of flex hose pull it apart an then seal all that an put back together seal everywhere even the plastic to wing an snorkel to wing

Job done :D

OK got the grill off and the screws out. There is a box behind which goes into a pipe lower down. There are some drain holes in the box, are these that I need to seal before I seal the box to the wing and then the snorkel to the wing.

Do I need to go underneath the Landy then

No under bonnet I've took a few pics seal all these joints ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371842049.563342.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1371842061.798524.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1371842072.666542.jpg

OK, box behind grill is now detached from pipe but it wont come out of the hole in the wing.

Moved the air filter out of the way so I can seal the pipes. One of them was not even attached

Then moved the windscreen washer so I can see, what next

Oh and you never mentioned that it would be full of muck and spiders :D:D

And I have to get it back together now, cause I certainly cant drive it.

Do you think Green Flag will recover it :D

just kidding. remove washer bottle bracket and then the air snorkel. will give you some space.

:eek::eek: Dont do that, I am clueless enough to believe you :D:D

I can get the bracket off no problem. What is the air snorkel

the black pastic part in the inner wing. undo wing top vent screws, it sort of holds it on.
