Have an unidentified single cyl engine for myson to strip from a lawnmower

How do I tell whether it si a 4 strok or a 2 sroke engine?

I told you it was silly but I am trying to learn as he does.

Most probably a 4 stroke most if not all are. Has it got a separate tank for 2 stroke oil or mixing instrustions? Take the sparkplug out and pull the starter,look down the hole and see if you can see the valves opeing and closing if so a 4 stroke as a 2 stroke has none.

luk about it n try n find a level/filler plug fa the engine oil,if ya find one then its a 4 stroke.if want a simple engine t teach im on,try n get a old nak'd strimmer.they 2 stroke n small enuf t strip ont bench easily.i got one otha day fa £3.

Ha ha... OK guys... Mr giggles as it happens is dropping off the V8 for Kai to strip after he has done the lawn mower one...
