1946 Morris 8 series E.
Looks good in the pics and to be fair it's not bad. It came off the road in 1966 with engine trouble, stored in a damp garage until it was dragged out by a recovery truck when the owner died, some body damage caused when it was pulled out due to a tree growing in front of the garage doors.
My dad saw it at a local auction and won it for £1100 iirc. This was around 2008. My dad owned one when he was young and had fond memories of them. He set to and removed the head and found 4 valves burnt out, the sump was full of tar so we removed the engine for a full strip down. That's as far as we got when he became ill which turned out to be terminal lung cancer.
He gifted the Morris to me and I trailered it back to mine, determined to get her back on the road to take him for a spin in it before he died.
New tyres, rebuilt the engine, new brakes, made a new fuel tank, rebuilt the carb and fuel pump, new trunnions, got all the electrics working with a new 6v battery but he suddenly died just as the rebuilt engine was being fitted, I only needed a couple of more days but hey ho....
I continued anyway and she sounded sweet but I'd lost interest by now.
Fast forward to today and here she is . It's too narrow to use the pit and jacking beam which is a pita.
From what I remember the chassis was ok just rot to the boot lid and boot lid aperture and rear wing arches. Paint and chrome is terrible, carpet is rotted, bakalite steering wheel is no good. New battery is long dead.
Not sure yet if I'm going to go crazy on this, body off, galv chassis, chemical dip the shell etc etc or keep the patina and just make it solid and usable.
