Hello,

I dropped my Rangie off at the garage this morning to get the clutch replace as i had the usual syptoms of a slipping clutch. When u got to the garage after work I got a thumbs down and the jeep was still 5ft in the air on the ramps, after inspecting the clutch plate there was very little wear and no signs of the usual burning on the plate, however my pressure plate has a little sign of burning but not much wear. I measured the old and new kits and the pressure plate has 1.1mm of wear and clutch 0.5mm of wear. Is this enough wear to cause my problems or have i got other issus?

Thanks in advance.

Had to replace clutch on my p38 last year cos it was slipping and it was nowhere near down to the rivets, did a mates td5 disco about same time and it wasnt down to rivets either. Unless you got the dreaded lumpy tickover the DMF is probably ok (mine wasnt and cost £450 with bit of discount). DMF needs checking see if its within limits, hope this helps.

when you say limits, do you know what the limits are and how to check?

Dual Mass Flywheels were invented by the devil, to make parts manufacturers and garages rich and motorist poor. Waste of bloody space every one.

Yeah they sure were, I got quoted £450 for the flywheel alone, so I have taken the risk of just fitting a clutch kit and I am hoping it all good, found out got a hole in the exhaust to so new centre silencer too! :(

thanks for all the help, I took the risk of only fitting a clutch kit and it seems to have paid off, got it back on friday and was running sweet as a nut until one one the belts snapped tonight. :(
