I think the failing here is the dealer looking at it. I'd be willing to bet a competent garage would have a different diagnosis. My advice would be get it moved to your garage, a 200 quid tow bill would likely save you a load of grief and cash

Yeh but then we have to pay tow fee and their diagnostcs charge. About £700 out of pocket for nothing.

Is there a breakdown in understanding somewhere?
Is it a no drive fault or a no start fault? I'm sure it's normal not to be able to drive when the engine isn't running

Totally agree, I'd say that diagnosis was for someone else's car.
How can you expect to change gear when the engine isn't running. Shocking report.

Yes I do have this. I may have to look into it. Good call thanks.

HTH :) ..

You can guess how I know this too ... It was a LR product as well (FFRR) - taught me a lesson .. and to stick to old stuff that can be fixed easily .

Sounds to me like it's a known fault.. failure of transmission control module.. now thinks it's a toaster.
After reading that pdf of want to speak with an auto transmission specialist

+1..

+1 - next to useless "report" - I'm pretty much convinced the report is from a different vehicle - either by design of incompetence - neither would surprise me..

@Scotmum - is the report really from your vehicle ?

IMHO, you really need to be getting someone who knows what they are doing involved - clearly, without the engine running, the oil pressure in the AT is going to be low !! ( I.E. I'm agreeing with the various posts above who have mentioned same ).

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say THERES NO PRESSURE COS THE ENGINE ISNT RUNNING but maybe their code reader doesnt tell them that
Agreed 100%
I was going to suggest the same thing.
The transmission oil pump won't be pumping, if the bloody engine isn't running.

Just spoken to my husband who said they told him the engine was running but the auto dial in the middle would move but nothing would
It sort of "Begs the question"..... are they total lack-wits? :D :D
thank you everyone. Another call to garage tomorrow!!!
