Hi Everyone!

I have been reading the threads for sometime and its helped to diagnose some of the symptoms of recent problems.

I have a LR 1 TD4 Diesel. currently done around 75k miles Timing chain at 64k. the past 3 months I have had an array of problems.

replaced parts so far, oil filter and oil, air filter, fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pressure sensor?

It splutters when it first starts and revs drop off or bounces about around the 1k rpm. at 3k rpm it almost misfires or splutters. Its been at the local garage for over a week, they have checked injectors, crankshaft filter, EGR valve, no splits in the hoses, and no faults codes registering. its got the local garage scratching there heads?

its doesn't lack power at 70mph or hills, its just become annoying.

An ideas anyone?

Low pressure fuel pump or filter, fuel rail pressure sensor harness, I assume the crankcase breather filter has been changed at each service or upgraded to the BMW cyclonic one.
These are a few things that can cause problems.
Why did you get the timing chain changed at 65k?

Low pressure fuel pump under the driver rear wheel and filter was changed about a month ago.... mechanic assures me the crankcase breather filter looked in very good condition....

is there anyway to test the fuel rail pressure sensor harness? if not any ideas where I can buy one online?

the timing was done before I purchased it, hence why I had brought the car....not known why it was done early!!!

The timing chain will normally outlast the hippo..as far as I know there is no mileage schedule for changing it.
The harness can be bought direct from Landrover.....if you use the search someone will have written the part number.
As the op says......the filters never look ok and should always be changed at service......although the BMW upgrade is basically fit and forget with just a periodic check and clean.....again the part number will be on here if you search.
The easiest way to check if the filter is clogged is to start the engine and then remove the dipstick just a little with a cloth round it as oil will be forced out if there is pressure present. Be warned ....do not remove it all the way cos if there is pressure you'll never get your car and surrounding area clean ever again.
Another check although I don't know if it would give your symptoms is to disconnect the maf and see how it runs....as when disconnected it will run on default values and these very rarely bring up a fault code if faulty.

I have this number for the crankcase filter BC10 32J1A 11.12.7.799.224.... for the complete kit...

will do a search to find where the MAF sensor is.
anyone know if the harness as a part number on it?!! or know

thanks for the input so far...

UPDATE! Well got the car back with nothing repaired and it seems better than it was.... although after long motorway journeys it puffs out white smoke when it starts and appears to be getting worse each morning...

with no fault codes and the garage can't find any faults its hard to to repair it... although it runs great but for how long?

I would recommend it as an annual treatment anyway. I have now started adding Millers when topping up and think the difference is well worth it. Bg244 might sound expensive but its a one off, Millers at £10 for around 5000 miles is negligable.

Highly recommend BG244. My car was always a little 'apprehensive' when pulling away which made roundabouts and junctions interesting to say the least.

I am halfway through a treated tank and the difference is very noticeable. Car pulls away with ease now, no hesitation at all at roundabouts etc. Seems to be running extremely smoothly as well in general.

Noticed the difference in performance after about 100 miles, so would definitely recommend it. Paid £20 and it is a yearly treatment so figured if it didn't work out great then I hadn't lost too much. Luckily it did work.
