Hello - my first proper question, having found answers to everything else over the last 2 months as newcomer to joys of owning a Series Landy...!

I have a 1969 2a 109 that started life (it would appear) with the Royal Navy. The towing pin fitting on the drop plate is quite badly ovalled and I was therefore going to replace it - but it has been welded to the drop plate. No problem I thought, I'll buy a new drop plate. But all the ones I have seen advertised are not the same 'tapered' shape as the one currently fitted - a good googling of images has failed to show a similarly shaped drop plate (either civilian or military). I am assuming that it is a military drop plate, and that I have just failed to find a picture of one - or indeed one for sale.

So, can anyone confirm that it is indeed a military drop plate, or if it is just something a previous owner has found & attached at random? Would probably only use towing pin for being pulled out backwards, so guess a new fitting placed higher up would suffice, perhaps even be better (and be easier than angle grinding the old fitting away). I would much rather keep the current drop plate than replace it with a straight one.

Thank you in advance!
