Been looking for a way to increase articulation without a lift.

come across these

Extreme 4x4 Ltd EVOLUTION KITS

supposed to give me 2" more droop travel at standard height.

Anyone had any experience of these, how they work etc.

My fender is my daily motor& family car, its inconvenient now finding car parks to fit, but we can get in a lot, a lift would make it a PIA to go anywhere.

Im thinking (slightly long term) one of thos Xeng ARB kits (or an equivalent if I can find one)

I just fitted plus5 shocks, Tf rear shock mounts and gwyn Lewis trailing arms, loads of droop and standard height springs. Also left the bump stops standard too.

Surely all this is actually doing is lowering the shock top mount height meaning at full extension the axle will be lower by however much lower the new mount is, the extended bump stops are just to stop the shock bottoming out under compression. seems like all you would actually need from this lot would be the top mounts, bump stops and extended hose. but i guess i could be missing something.

does adding plus5 shocks not limit compression?

gonna fire an email off for some more info, trying to figure out what exactly this kit does/how it does it.

I can't remember the precise measurements, but I seem to remember my TF +5 shocks compressed to a similar length as a standard shock and extended 5 inches further so bump travel was not limited too much by fitting them.

I had that exact setup on mine and found it to be excellent, never struggled anywhere and also maintained decent on road handling.

The shocks are +2", the springs are +2", on their own you would get no extra travel so the turrets give you the extra 2" of travel over a standard setup whilst the body maintains the extra 2" height (just shocks and springs only gives extra height, not extra travel). You need the hoses for obvious reasons and the +2" bump stops are to stop you bottoming out the shocks (the chassis is now sitting 2" higher thanks to the springs).

Overall I found it an excellent setup, had no issues, took it from my Disco to my Defender, performed great on both, comes highly recommended

this is a pic of my 90 with that setup on, not the best but you get to see the extent of the articulation:

so did you go for the lift option then? I was ideally looking to stay stock height, and the standard kit claims to give more articulation by letting the wheels drop further without lifting anything.

Yeah I went +2" but you don't need to do that, you will still get the same articulation but the chassis will sit lower, you wont need the bump stops either.

No I specifically wanted the same upward travel too or I would have reworked the mount, I checked it without springs and it hits the bumpstop before the shock bottoms.

The kit above will allow a defender with larger than normal tyres to still retain the original travel, I only run either 265/75 or 235/85 so the tyres don't hit the arches anyway.

right, had an answer back, basically their kit remounts the damper 2" further down, all you really NEED from their kit is the dropped mounts, the brake lines, and the dislocation cones.
ride height is the same as the spring mount is unchanged, so, either these mounts or the + shocks are the way to go me thinks.

Bear in mind that fitting those mounts lower the shocks 2" so that's 2" upward travel you've lost
