Hi all

okay so I’ve seen a few threads on here in regards to my issue but I need a definitive answer to if there’s a part issue here

So I needed a new front RH driveshaft for my car. I purchased one via J&R. A lot of people had recommended them. I had a mobile Land Rover specialist come to fit the item however the part did not fit.

I contacted the company who told me to take the ABS ring off. My mechanic refused to do this and alter the part. Let me also state that the part was down as a freelander 2 part...?? But they were convinced it fits the vehicle

After several weeks on axel stands the mechanic returned and I had ordered a GKN that matched perfectly with the old shaft. But 5x the price.

J&R are refusing to entitle my to a full refund ...

is there anything anyone can advise in regards to this?

You can get reconditioned GKN shafts, which are much cheaper (bit late now I know), however you're now guaranteed a vibration free shaft.;)

Be thankful that you dodged that bullet for starter's.

However if the shaft they sent wasn't correct, they should be supplying the correct one.

Did it come from Ebay?

That’s helpful but in regards to the j&r they are saying it should fit. I asked on the freelancers owners club and they said it you knocked the ring off it would have fit??

I was hoping there was a way to get the free return. Cost £40. Return is nearly £10
Unfortunately you'll need to pay the return postage, which sometimes makes returning an item pointless, but at least in this instance, you'll get 75% of the cost back.

You could always put it up for sale and re-coup your money that way, if you feel that you do not want to return it.
