Hi there.
Ive just spent the morning fixing my drivers window .
I got a repair kit from fleabay.
Comes with new cable and idiot proof fitting instructions. Full instuctions are sent to you via e mail and as long as you follow them to the letter its a piece of cake to do.
Freelanders are fitted with 2 types of regulator and both have different cable end fittings and different slides.
I bought a kit called the duo kit ,it comes with the fittings for both types.
Start to finish in less than 4 hours (most of that time waiting for the glue to dry....... yes glue!) £24.90 inc post order before 6.15 mon /fri you get it next day. ( i ordered 5.30 fri night it arrived 9.30 sat morning and the job was done by 1.45 today 20 hours or so after ordering it.)
The kit is supplied by e-crofting on fleabay.
£200.00 for a new regulator or £25.00 and a bit of sweat for a repair kit..... its a no brainer.:D
Just make sure you print out the instuctions and follow them to the letter problem solved.

Glue? Glue? There's no need for glue. I wouldnt trust a metal to metal bond thats under constant pressure, even when not in use. Thats still a bit high for a cable, it better be SS at that price. My cable cost me nowt, as I've said before, a trip to the bike shop or your local amenity yard will have plenty of scrap bikes.

Oh yeah glue ...24 + hours later still goin strong window works perfectly.
Could say price a bit steep for a bit of cable but its real good quality stainless steel not the galvinised sh**e land rover fitted as standard.
Only time will tell if its better than oem ,and its the only real option for us chaps that dont have crimp tools or welding/brazing gear........so its glue .
But honest dont knock it till ya tried it .
Hope i wont need to get anymore kits as the freelander is up for sale.
But sods law says summit else will go pear shaped on before i get rid....

finally done it NI style... works a treat.
cheers NI

pint here for yer!!

Is it the same kits that henny is talking about?

I dont have crimp tools, welding/brazing gear either;)

For crimping try a vice, large handled pliers, even bolt cutters with a slight squeeze.
A gas camping stove and tablespoon to hold the melted lead.
