Hi all
Diesel 1998 p 38
All of a sudden ,when I get to drive ,shut the door, interior light goes off but the dash info keeps display the front door open. The girl starts fine but suspension won't lift as the warning messa ge .keeps showing
Any help ,really appreciated

One of the microswitches in the door latch is not working correctly or there is a poor electrical connection in one of the plugs behind the door card. Take the door card off and clean plugs with electrical contact cleaner. Plug and unplug each several times. If that does not help you may need a new door latch.
I had the same problem for a while and did the above plus I took out the latch, cleaned and lubricated it. I think I still had the problem for a while but finally it went back to normal. Many threads on this problem on rangerovers.net/p38
My drivers side window still struggles to close sometimes and I can't figure out why as there does not seem to be any adjust in the window mechanism that could go out of alignment. P38 gremlins.....

Check the regulator brackets and long horizontal stay arm are both securely riveted in place. On mine the long stay arm came loose at the rear end of the door and mechanism went completely skewiff. I used an m6 bolt and nylock nut after that.

Check and clean the window guide channels as these can produce a lot of friction on the glass edge. A couple of drops of light oil in the channels could rule that out if it's the case:)

Thanks for the suggestions regarding my sticky drivers side window. I did lube all the moving parts and sprayed silicone on the vertical rails. I don't recall if I checked for loose parts but nothing appeared out of position. When winter is over I will take off the door card and have another look.
