My drivers door lock has stopped opening with the fob but locks. I can hear the lock working on the first press of the fob. Looking at removal it appears you need 2left arms and a flexible neck, anyone got any tips for removal and replacement?

Hi Kenneth.
I have to do the same job soon so once I have undertaken it I will post up photo's I should imagine it is just a case of removing the old lock and replacing, I think the ones out of the R40 fit I have yet to find out, the driver door lock will have a dog bone connector which is best to be left in the door it's self I presume.

That's great, please let me know how you get on. Found one guy on youtube changing his lock but unfortunately he should have had a camera man instead of trying to film whilst doing the repair

Does the key work with the drivers door also as this will confirm the dogbone link has failed. Another fail would be the lock unit where the dog bone connects to. As you say you hear the locks working. The dog bone can be repaired with heavy glue as a chap previously show a picture of his being snapped. The expensive route is a replacement coded key and barrel like for like from LR Supplier. I went for alternative route of going for without keycode type and just use the original key for ignition and tailgate.

Same as mine lock on the fob, and key but only opens with the key, I suspect the open motor switch as gone, as they have two motors open and closed motors.

Below is one from am R40 which we are trying to replace just the motors, that would be a lot cheaper than obtaining a new lock or even a second hand one which could fail also at any time.

Just found this thread from two years ago - just wondering whether the motor replacement worked? :)
