hi all,

a small call for some help please..:)

My hippo would unlock all the doors except the drivers door with the remote & i'd have to unlock it with the key to get in.. Common fault i know from reading on here, We'll after some searching i've now got a replacement actuator/lock for it & want to replace it..

Has anybody done this repair or has any pics/diagrams or advice on how to do it??.. I don't want to go blundering in without some pre warning on this job & im hoping some members have done this job before & can give me some tips on what to expect & the easy way to do it saving me time & a few skint knuckles too..;):)

thanks in advance

ferryjambo..

Its quite easy to do and you get much better access if you remove the exterior door handle first - just 2 nuts (watch they dont drop into the door) and disconnect the rod that connects the handle to the lock mechansim then lift out the handle being careful to catch the lock barrel as you remove it. Then undo the 3 torx bolts holding the lock mech, disconnect the interior pull cable and wiring plug and lift out the lock mech.

Once you get in about it you will see what you are doing :)

cheers m8 ;)..

need some dry weather for a few hours then i'll try it, it's quite a big lump of plastic/metal i take it i don't need to take off the regulator to get it out once unbolted??..

thanks..

thought i'd post up some more mods i've done recently.:)

I never really liked the green land rover badges on my oslo blue td4, so i got myself some new black & silver ones which i feel look lots better on it.. to complete the look i also got black & silver chrome centre caps for the wheels too.. I also put a rubber boot mat into it & put a warning triangle that i used to have on my rover 75 onto the tailgate door panel...

The side ones..

looks good fella, if only you could get a black and silver freelander badge instead of the green and gold...

yep m8. i've shopped around & can't find anyone doing these yet :(..
missed opportunity by the people doing the black L.R. badges methinks
maybe i'll email them & point this out as im sure im not the only one who'd like to change the old green one over to a black one.. ;)..
