Had a new clutch kit fitted by a garage in October last year, i'd taken off the skid plate for them & when i went to fit it back on i noticed some oil residue around the driveshaft, didnt really think much about it but 2day i have noticed some oil on my drive....not had time to get underneath but engine oil level is fine so i'm inclined to think about what i saw earlier.
Should the driveshaft seal have been changed when they did the clutch & if so how difficult a job is it to do now:confused::confused:

Cheers.....

They normally just weep a bit and look a lot worse than they are.
If there is a lot of oil I would be checking gear box and ird levels as you'd had the clutch done. Also if yours is a td4 it could also be diesel which can leak from the hp pump.

Its the 1.8 :)eek:)....will take of the skid plate 2moro & have a good look/clean it all up, check the levels etc...go for a run then check again, is there anything else apart from the drive shaft seal i should be checking....it drives great with no untoward rattles/noises....

Cheers..:)

Well had it up on the ramps yesterday, the gearbox side that i was worried about is ok, a bit of 'dried' staining around the driveshaft so prob leftover from getting the clutch done...however on the other side there is a lot of oil thats been dripping onto the skid plate & around the bottom of the IRD...its difficult to tell if its from the driveshaft or even leaking from the drain plug....would the garage have drained the oil from the IRD for doing the clutch/taking the shaft out....wondering/hoping that all i need is a new copper washer

Have cleaned it up as best as i can & will have another check in the next few days.....;)
