Hi Guys , I am after a little info on my freelander , Its a freelander 1 and is a 2002 model with a chassis number 2A blah blah .
Anyway I have had a problem with the front near side wheel abs sensor . I removed this sensor and found that it has had some wear into the plastic through to the metal inside the sensor, I have ordered a new sensor but I dont want to put this back in as I cant seem to figure out why the old one has been worn .
When I look down the hole to the shaft I see that have of the hole is block by the drive shaft , so it looks like the drive shaft has moved and this could be the cause of the wear , Is there a washer or a spacer of some sort that is supposed to go between the drive shaft and the hub to keep the sensor and shaft in the correct place .
Hope this makes sense
Thanks Djay

It doesnt look like the cv has had any ring at all fastened to it , to be honest .
Is it possible that there should be a spacer of some sort between them.
Thanks for the reply by the way . any info is more than what I know .

I knew I should of took pics , the car is at my parents for tonight so its now going to keep me awake until morning . I would imagine I can get one of these from the dealers for the price of say a small terraced house ( like the sensor) .
Thanks for the help and all is appreciated .

Well the problem with the three amigos has finaly been solved.
First I thought it was the reluctor ring gone on the drive shaft , and after a little digging I found the part number I needed and my freelander does not have them .So I bought a new drive shaft as the one it had one the wrong one anyway , this didnt help , I then fitted the new sensor , still had the three amigos staring at me . I then took it up to Paul at tow law who put it back onto the machine and said it was still the nsf sensor.
My dad who was with me at the time had heard that the bearings contain a magnetic strip and could this be the fault , Yes ......after the purchase of a bearing and then fitting it the lights had gone .
So anyone with the three amigo problems should maybe check if its the bearings first .
Unlucky for me I had the wrong drive shaft put in from a cowboy garage last year and this has cost me dearly .

not heard that one before was it possible that the ring had destroyed the sensor because when you put a new or second hand you should check the sensor is not touching the ring thats what happend to me now i have learnt

im thinking my problem might be the same as this i dont seem to have the ladder type ring on the drive shaft but is it possible i got two wrong bearings from seperate dealers?

2002 freelander td4

Hi I am helping a friend replace test the ABS sensors on his 2001 TD4 Freelander.
Can somebody advise me how the connector plug for the abs sensor on the inner front wing comes apart please?
It is the type of sensor that at the hub end pushes in the hub rather than is held in by a bolt.
Does the plug just pull apart?or do you have to push the two lugs each side in to get it apart?
I don't want to force it and break it getting it apart as the sensor may be ok!
