Hi

Can someone tell me if there should be a drain hole under the chassis just before the rear cross member.
Basically where the hole the loom comes out of the chassis just before the rear bumper.

There is a great big obstruction inside mine which water can not get past but then there is no drain hole anywhere on that low part of the chassis if any water goes in that loom hole.

My rear has had a replacement member so not sure if I should to drill a hole both sides of the obstruction on the bottom here to stop rusting?

There should be a drain, the hole in the pic is where the tie down eye or jate recovery shackle goes.

So there should be a couple of holes on the bottom either side of the spacer of that hole then?

Anyone got a moment to take a picture of the bottom of the chassis there so can copy it please

Make sure it isn't full of water when you drill. 8mm hole should be enough, slap some grease over the bare metal.

I checked a 110 down the road and it didn't have any either.
Looked like the original rear, crazy why they don't have any drain holes, no wonder these rust so much.

Thanks

It's called design obsolescence - I.E. it is designed to fail in a predictable way, which is serious enough to make the vehicle uneconomically repairable....

IMHO, manufacturers are getting "better" ( for them  ) at this.. and you can imagine that, if a deafener is so equipped, then what about a modern car ....

I might suggest that "they" are more than capable of making a vehicle which will last 50 years without too much hassle.....
