Yeah .. I have them on my 90 and they were on my Disco 300 before this. Never an issue at all. Only change to add them to the 90 was to swap the steering arm from 'Defender style' with the swan neck type thing to the Disco one where the TRE just bolts into the straight Disco steering arm and change the length to suit.

Nope,

Why do you need to replace them? Shimmy?
I was under the front this afternoon trying to find out where a new knocking was coming from, and found that the steering drop-arm to the drag link was loose and from what I read, this is crimped in to the drag link, so can't just be replaced (please correct me if I'm wrong). So rather than just replace the drag link, I thought I may as well replace both it the steering rod, as they are cheap enough.

Sorry .. only just realised these are D2, mine was a D1 300tdi ... I'd still recommend them though as I'd guess there's actually minimal difference between them!

I would love to contradict you................Just for fun, but as my D2 is still in the place I left it after it was broke, I cannot confirm.

Can you not just replace the ball joint?

Cheers

I'm not sure, but with the price of a new drag link and steering link being so little, I thought I may as well just replace them.

I replaced one of mine on my old disco 2 with an OEM one and wished I done for the heavy duty ones. IIRC on the ones you are looking at you can replace just the ball joints if they go again

hi mate just replaced my drag link and track rod both complete units genuine land rover parts from paddocks highly recommended £100 for both

Finally got these HD steering rods ordered and fitted, and the difference to the steering is quite amazing. I've always thought I needed a new steering box as my D2 has always wandered slightly, even after tightening the box itself. There was never a huge amount of play in any individual component, but obviously there was enough play in each of them that when all added up, it was causing my steering wander. It now feels like the steering wheel is connected to the front wheels again, maybe even as good as the day it left the factory... well pleased. :)
