Hello
I have a 300tdi auto. I have recently come back from Morocco, where I had some problems. My head warped from overheating  so I have to replace the head with a new one (old one had already been skimmed). When removing the turbo the waste gate hit the starter motor and because I was an spanner I didnt disconnect the battery and it blow a hole in the wastegate and set fire to my Disco LOL. Luckily it wants out very quickly. Any way the hole was plugged and it all seemed to be working fine. But near the end of the trip she seemed to be a bit down on power. When you tried to do 70 on the motorway she struggled and started to get a bit hot, so took it down to 60 and the temp was fine.
I assumed that the paste bunging the hole in the wastegate had failed thus reducing my boost pressure from my turbo. I have now replaced the wastegate and still feel that she is not quite right
Is there any test I can do or have done to make sure the engine is running at 100%? Does anyone have any ideas if there may be something else wrong?
O and when I changed the head there was not scoring on the cylinder linings, so hopefully it not the pistons.
Many thanks
Mike
