down hill decent

Hi on my wifes freelander when we bought it we had a diagnostics done as all the light came up on the dash and would not go out , this turned out to be a bad earth so nothing was working , all has been fine since then but when i drove it today i tried out the down hill decent button and nothing lit up on the dash so i presume its not turning on , all light light up when you turn the key and go out as they should , does anyone have any idea if maybee it could be be a switch orsomething like that so i can check my self before i contact the local landy garage to be stung once again cheers Adrian

What year is the Freelander?
Where is the HDC switch? If it's on the gear lever it may be a snapped wire from the constant flexing every time you change gear (presumably the reason they moved it.)
