Double din Freelander 2

Having recently purchased a 2011 Freelander 2 i am trying to upgrade the basic radio to double din, i’ve bought 2 after market loops, 1 didn’t fit as too many prongs and the other fitted but didn’t work. I’m confused as new connectors have only 1 connector to the vehicle, yet the vehicle has 2 connectors (1 of which i presume connects to the dashboard clock)
Can anybody throw some light on this, i rang main authorized dealer, theirs is £200+
