Double cab advice for a newbie please?

I've been away from Landies for a while, and I'm thinking of taking tghe plunge again. I have been looking at double cabs, but there too expensive. I have been wondering if I could buy a 5 door county station wagon and convert it? Any ideas as to whats needed/involved would be gratefully received.

You could convert a 3 or 5 door, both have been converted successfully in the past. You will need to fabricate some panels, or modify existing ones, but there is the beauty of Defenders; you can build it exactly how YOU want it!!! I've not done it myself, so I can't give you a comprehensive run-down of what you will require, but it sounds like an interesting project. I would give some serious consideration to what you want the double cab for though, anything you chuck in the back will have to be secured, can't simply lock the door any more!?!
