Update, lost the sidelights due to shorting an exposed wire, that was a fuse. Regarding the headlights, after removing the headlamps, switch, relays and fuse box including checking the earths it was isolated to the indicator/horn/main beam stalk. Hoping to resolve this tomorrow once I can get to Bingocroft.

Very kind consideration

Latest saga - steering box weeping oil, not leaking on the floor but clearly glistening will oily stuff. So I blew a hole in the radiator recently on Porlock Hill or maybe Lynmouth Hill either way they're steep, well a container of Radweld solved that as an emergency fix . Looking at the rad yesterday its past its best even though it ain't leaking. My question, the steering box is a PITA to do whilst laying on your back with fluid running down your arm inside your shirt sleeve. If done concurrently with the rad does it make for a more accessible job, ultimately a no-brainer?

Do I buy a reconditioned steering box £200 exchange, buy a 2nd hand box off fleabag and rebuild it with a seal kit circa £60 or reduce my 110 to a drive ornament (again) and just fix my own unit with a £12 seal kit?

Hmmm, you become more learned every day. I have an aspiration to spray the whole area with Gunk so I can see which seal has blown, trouble is my motivation is waning.

Think mine was slick 50. From motor factor just make sure it's not just power steering fluid

No the pup was left at home, this was supporting those daft sods that walked from Lynmouth to Wembury. It allowed me to meander through the single track lanes experiencing daftness like cream first on yer scones, thatched boozers and hostels like the Drewsteignton Arms.

I have sprayed the steering box with Gunk, can I go after it with a power washer or will I cause damage to anything. I'm planning a similar approach with the swivels where they have become dunked up over time, again can I do damage to the seals hitting them with high pressure agua?

Don't fire water direct at the seals & you should be ok.

THat looks excellent, looks like a Brit army basha - where did you get the frame thingy?

The frame thingy is what's left of a 12 x 12 cannibalised to fit the basha. It's sat wrapped up in transport cling wrap since that photo was taken.

@Hicap phill will my heater improve if I pop a muff over the front grill, or is it merely an old wives tale?
