Door top rebuild

Nice, I like the idea of both panes opening, dare I ask, how much?

Col

I converted my 101 tops to slide open both panes and fitted plastic channels as well...the problem with the metal channels is they rust where they are cut to fit and where the screw hole is drilled...

I used a Paintman Panels door top. They are not galv or ally but are excellent quality and have the correct UNF threads and fit like a glove. I wax injected it after painting and used a bit of clear wax in the channels so the screw holes don’t rust. I’d always use original glass over replacement as it will be better. I also used the original ally spacers and where salvageable as replacements were slightly different.

In my case I used the one that was on the glass already. I watched several Youtube vids and saw one by a guy called 'steamwally' put it on after the pane was assembled onto the door top, whereas mine already had it on so the sliding pane was installed after assembly. Some of the available parts don't fit well. I'd watch some Youtube videos and see whether anything occurs to you.

I am really sorry that I didn't reply sooner but I have been preoccupied with other things.

I did see two videos posted on Youtube before I started and one of them was the one by 'steamwally'. It helped me with the glass fitting but not the seal / alli strip, which he pushed onto the glass by hand.

I bought my window kit from Bearmach and as far as I can tell everything is identical to the original parts. Having said that it is difficult to say whether the new rubber seals ares thicker than the original ones, which are in a poor state.
