Door mirror puddle lamps

Hi Does anyone know the value (ohms) of the shunt resistor used when converting normal bulbs to LED.

That depends on the voltage that the led is designed to be used with and the voltage it's intended to be used with, The common led bulbs that u see on eBay as a direct replacement have the resistor, if required, included within the base.
 
The LED I have are OK on all the other lamps of similar fitting i.e. door and map lights etc. But in the door mirror puddle it looks like you need the shunt resistor. I seen on youtube the conversion, but the filming is vague to see the actual resistor colours. I know the colour code as I am electronics automation guy. But can't make out the colour of the resistors used.

Work it out. You know the wattage of the existing lamp and the rating of the new one so as an automation engineer it should be child's play.

You will notice the the existing 5w capless bulb is fitted sideways into the door mirror, so if your using an led which give its full illumination from the top ot tip of the LED, LEDs are viewed from the front not the side, therefore any light reaching the ground from the mirror lamp will be dim and not what you will expect.
In other words LEDs are directional
Fitting a bulb with a collection of five or so LEDs will over heat due to lack of ventilation.

Also the lamps projecting Land Rover are a lower door fitment and no way will they fit into your door mirrors.
 
Want sure of power (Watts) but now found them at 5W, therefore 100ohms 2 Watt rating should be sufficient.

Comments noted, I am not interested in the projection types. I have some omnidirectional LED,s and had one on test at 13.8vDC, and stays cool for quite a lot longer than the intended usage time they will be on. So I don't think there will be a ventilation issue.
