(P38 - Heated Mirrors) Apart from the obvious" Very Carefully", how do you remove the glass part of the wing mirrors? Do they just 'pop off', I can't find anything on RAVE to show how they are held on......

Cheers:cool:

They do pull off.

Move the mirror inwards so you can get your fingers in, and....

Pull the RIGHT side of the offside mirror and the LEFT side of the neaside mirror towards you, and it will come off failry easy.

Hi
I've had to do it twice in the last 6 months and know where you're coming from.
On the centre back of the mirror glass are two solid plastic lugs : these slot/clip into a frame ( also plastic and replacement easily come by from a number of sources.) as a push fit : their alignment in the frame is horizontal i.e. one to the right of cntre of the glass and one to left : that frame is fixed by three screws onto the motor which is fixed in the outer plastic casing.
You may have to refit a new frame as a plastic lug may have cracked. I now carry a couple of spares ( a couple of quid each.)
there are also two half inch flexible plastic square "guides" on each top corner of the rear of the glass : these just slip into a slot and so far as I can see are just steadying mechanisms although they may serve some other purpose which I have not yet noticed !
It's a fiddly job refitting the glass but no more than that. If you study the shape of the lugs on the back of the mirror and the shape of the parts of the frame that they fir into you will find ( I think) that on re-fitting if you try to clip the inboard one into place first the outboard one will clip in more easily ( and it is literally a "click/push operation.)
Hope that helps.
Happy to describe further if necessary.
I'm not much good for anything else but I've had to do this twice recently !
When you pull as described by Simon you free the glass from the two lugs/clips.

Thanks both, I do not need to replace the glass yet, just remove it as I am having problems with the motors and heating so I wanted to have a look behind to see if everything is OK....Is it 'likely' to break one of the plastic tabs, if I remove it for inspection?
