hi all my battery went flat on my p38dse its now saying enter key code but it wont work went to my local specialist he said it wont work because the drivers door lock is foockd. is ther a way round it. and my indicators dont flash wen trying eka code. eny help neederd. thanx:mad:

hi so is it just a case of changeing the lock in drivers door and use the same code

I had the same problem several years ago when replacing the battery, EKA code wouldn't work, ended up removing the door lock (a bit fiddly) couldn't strip it as such, so I drenched it with WD40 whilst vigarously 'working' the lock, loads of old, mucky oil/gunge came out & a can later, it was re-fitted, luckily for me, it then worked & accepted the code!
A word of warning, stupidly, I left the keys in the ign & shut the door, then as soon as I hooked up the new battery, the car went into 'lock-down' & locked me out! somehow I managed to cobble up a coat-hanger wire hook placed into the door-seal & get back in!!
Second warning, I'm so scared of this happening again, that If ever I need to remove the battery for whatever reason, I hook up a little old 12v alarm battery via a couple of crocodile-clips to the pos & neg leads, this keeps the cars electrics powered up thereby preventing sync/memory loss.

Hi Azzd

Assuming your code is correct, quite a few seem to have been changed, but fingers crossed for yours.

If you change the drivers door lock mechanism, therefore including the microswitch in the lock mechanism, and assuming it is not a wiring fault between the door and the BECM. you should be able to enter the EKA in the drivers door and get the car going again.

If you DIY inclined, I would pop the drivers door card off, do a quick visual check of the wiring especially up by the latch, and if nothing is obviously wrong, pop the latch out. You should then be able to bench test the switch in the latch with a multimeter. obviously if that doesn't work, buy a new latch. Second hand drivers door latches are like the preverbial rocking horse poo and may well fail on CDL motors at a later stage, so my advice would be, bite the bullet and shell out the £100+ if that is what is needed.

Let us know how you get on.

Best of luck
Andy
