Disco 2 Door Gremlins

Ever since owning my D2 (a year now), the rear driver's side door is slow to unlock, much slower than all of the other doors and sometimes take an extra press of the unlock button. On the same door, the electric window switch doesn't work however, I can control the window from the main switch panel in the front. Are these two things likely to be connected? I assume the window problem is a faulty switch, but wasn't sure if there is a control module in the door that could be to blame?

Also, the wife has a habit of leaning on the front passenger door lock pop-up tab thingy. When unlocking the door using the switch by the clock, the interior handle doesn't work so she either has to lean out of the window to let herself out using the exterior handle, or I have to run round the car and open the door from the outside!

Any ideas on fixing my 3 door problems would be greatly appreciated!

Door lock sounds as tho its on the way out. As far as I know there's no module in the door for the window. As you say probably a switch malfunction.

Tell your missus to use the "door lock/unlock" button on the dash! (icon shows a door!)

Oops! sorry! just noticed that she has tried this! Cannot imagine anything other than either an electrical problem, maybe to do with the ignition key position or a mechanical problem in the door to do with the door handle.

Haha! I said something similar Stanley steamer, until I tried it and the door still didn't work. This happens both when the car is and isn't running, so would agree with the mechanical issue. Perhaps as with my rear driver's door, a replacement of the door lock actuator may resolve?

Nig43, thanks for your help. I will look for a replacement door lock actuator and see if that resolves the slow unlock problem, and another window switch. Are they all the same size and pin type around the car, do you know? If so, I will just swap one over and see if it works before buying another.

I'm keen to get these snags fixed now, seeing as it's just passed the MOT so another year of happy motoring is ahead!

Seems to me that the door handle not operating is a simple mechanical problem which I would have thought you could fix by getting the door card off and having a good nose around then fixing it with a bit of jiggery-pokery.
As to the slow electrical opening. I get this with my rear-rear door, takes sometimes three clicks on the plip to make it open. But as two is usual anyway for the doors other than driver's (such a pain), I just start clicking while I am some way from the car walking towards it! I think I have read somewhere that there are springs that get weak or bust, but then that might be on Disco 1s. I think you can get hold of these reasonably easily. Anyway, if it works but is just slow it sounds to me that a bit of lubrication with a silicon type lube could be all that is called for. The trouble with all things inside doors is lack of vision of problems and dropping things down inside them so I try to remember to shove a load of old cloth in the bottom to make retrieving dropped clips and screws a bit easier. Window problem must be a switch/connection/wiring problem if you can do it from the central switch, although I suppose it is possible that the connection from the switch that prevents the passenger from operating their own switch could be the problem. By swapping connectors around you should be able to isolate exactly what is up with it all. Surprising what you can live with. I once had a rear door that would not open from the inside even when the child safety thing was in the right position. Grand-daughter got quite used to opening the window and leaning out to open it! But I did eventually get it fixed. (Happened after door was replaced after an accident, not my fault so insurance paid to get it fixed, otherwise I'd have done it myself, and probably swore as much as the Land Rover mechanic who did the job! He didn't shove cloth in the door and wished he had!)
