Door Change Problem

Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone can help.

My Father In Law has a 57 plate Freelander 2, it had a damaged rear passenger door.

He bought a second hand door from EBay and I helped him fit it, but now he cannot lock his car by central locking as on the dash it says the new door is open, it just sounds the hooter.

The door locks manually but the electric window doesn't work, a local mechanic managed to close the window by connecting it direct to battery so we know the motor works.

We changed over the control module from the previous door but still no luck.

He also took it an idependant dealer to go on diagnostics and it showed a fault with the door but not what the fault was.

I would be very grateful for any advice, thank you in advance for reading.

Why not swap over everything from the old door, then you'll be keeping all the original moving components, with the vehicle they came with.

Hi thanks for replying, would that be just the window motor? Or is there any other electric components within the door skin? Thanks

There's a door locking actuator, which contains the lock motors and the door open sensor.

Excellent thank you I will try to get to them, the lock looked hard to remove.
