Morning, when I close the drivers door on my Disoc the door lock hits the striker plate/catch thing. I've looked but theres no way of dropping the plate down that I can see. Is there any adjustment on the hinges at all ? cheers

Isn't that whats s'posed to happen??!

I assume you mean you have to lift the door onto the pin... the pin itself is adjustable by an allen key (look at the end of the pin), slack it off move it a bit then nip it up. Test then adjust again till you get it right.

You might want to check the door hinges by trying to lift the door when it is virtualy closed. They could be worn causing the door drop in the first place which may just be new pins/hinges. If there is no play but the door has dropped see if there is any adjustment at the hinge, if not a carefuly placed block of wood along the bottom of the door (towards the lock end) and a small jack can lift the door a little to help with alignment.

It is best to take out the lock post from the door pillar and close the door to check alignment there first before you do anything, get this right and then the locks/striker afterwards.

The plot thickens... I've tried the up/down adjustment on the pillar but I still cant get it to close unless I slam the door.. its as though it need a horizontal adjustment on the striker pin...any ideas ?

Cheers

I think Discomania is refering to the hinges, I cannot remember but they may be welded in place so there will not be adjustment.

Does the door close properly with the lock post removed from the door pillar? Check that first. If it does the the fault lies with the lock mechanism. If the door will not close i.e. enter the door frame without the lock post in place then you need to get the door alignment right first.

This will be either new pins or a new hinge (poss welding) or if the misalignment is only slight then lift the door as per my previous post or lower it by gently pulling down on it, if lifting or pulling down do it with the door almost closed AND A LITTLE BIT AT A TIME.

Then fit the lock post back and gently bring the door to the lock and see if the lock post lines up with the lock entry and adjust as need be. Do this a couple of times and the door should shut without slamming it.

Hope this helps.
