Hello everyone,
I've finally taken the plunge in to Landy land. Having been obsessed by the rover V8 engine for about 25 years I managed to get a cheeky ebay bid in on a 1996 P38 4 litre SE. I picked it up in Gateshead last Thursday. It got me over the river to Newcastle before I left it for a couple of hours, in which time the undercharged battery went completely flat and it immobilised itself. I left it overnight in Byker but it was there the next morning to my great satisfaction. The very nice AA man came out on Friday afternoon and managed to diagnose a knackered key fob. A call to Nigel Price at Newbrough, near Hexham, got me the code to re-set the key. (Thank you Nigel, that was very decent of you.) Some twiddling in the lock and a boost to the battery got her started. She got me back to the in-laws in Hexham on Friday night, then down to Ilkley on Saturday and on to Warwick yesterday. She's runnig like a dream, the engine is sweet as a nut. She's averaging about 19 to the gallon and I love her! She's a bargain. Like all ladies she'll probably cost me a fortune in the long run but at less than £1500 I think I've got a steal!
I look forward to some jolly banter on the forum and sharing adventures!
See y'awl
