hello all new to this site and need some help with 2000 freelander the problem is you turn it over it will fire first time but not start after that it stinks of petrol .on the odd occasion it does start its lumpy but useable.plug in to ecu no codes. please help???????

Sounds electrics to me. Get the plugs out and check them out. You can tell a lot from the plugs. If they are soaked in fuel then it is likely you lack a spark. Dis cap and lead failure is your likely problem. Given your lump is dead I suspect the coil side of the system.
