My 2002 td4 92000 mile Freelander has started Drumming.
It sounds like its coming from under the handbrake? roughly where the viscous coupling is?
It only does it at Sharp Left handers / T junctions / roundabouts. Doesn't do it at speed or anywhere else. What's going on?

It went for a service recently, I had reported this issue, the garage replaced a broken suspension bush, it appeared to go away for a couple of days, but its definitely back now, it would be possible that the bush is not connected to this issue.

Any ideas great fully received.

When I got mine it started to make a grinding as soon as setting off. Garage said it was the brakes binding on the rear. I wasn't convinced. I removed the prop and the noise has stopped. It's the rear prop bearing on mine that is noisy when spun. The front one made no noise at all. The noise in the cabin made it sound like it was coming from the below the gear lever/handbrake area.

For the time it takes to remove the prop, it may be worth doing to eliminate or find the noise.

Mine did exactly the same on cornering. I replaced the front diff mount and all was resolved. Worth a look - lots of threads about it on this forum.
