Just wondering if people on here have trained their other half up on the ways of the Landrover...?
Can she drive it?
Can she maintain it?
Can she fix it up?
What about more heavy duty work like timing belt change etc?

It could come in handy that more of our partner's know the score with the way's of landrovers than just doing the dishes :)
 
Not the missus, but my daughter does and helps with all of the above.
She has helped with a 200TDi timing belt change and recently with a P gasket change, as well as daily maintenance and servicing.
Not bad with 4 kids :eek:.
 
Ummmm I am no one's missus and I can drive it (and tow forwards AND backwards, with it), I know how to keep an eye on oil, water, tyre pressures, screen wash and if I had an OH (pref one not scared of dirt :rolleyes:) then I'd know how to do more, as I'd expect (well, kinda hope) to be shown how to do other stuff :D

My missus loves driving "her" Discovery, both on and off road. She knows how to do all the basic maintenance jobs like checking and changing the coolant and oil. She has driven the 109 on her own a few times, but hates driving it in town, she says the steering & brakes are too heavy, and that it has the turning circle of an oil tanker, she does like the fact that she has never had anyone try and cut her up or pull out in front of her while driving it, and the reactions from other people when they see a woman driving an open top series Land Rover.

She rebuilt my engine fitted it and drove us back from Deutschland (I had a bad back at the time) and our lad could change an engine at 8 years old:cool::cool:

that takes me back knew firing order on cars before i new my abc's spent most of my child hood fixing blaunknox's dumpers and excavator's.Moved on to revcovery and trucks about 8.good times nowadays classed as slave labour:doh:

I can still carry a LT77 gearbox, without the trannybox I'll admit.

we share the spanner work...
the hubby thinks it's great I can slide under the Landy on the creeperboard, without jacking the car up.:D
