Freelander 1 Does Headlight Dip use a relay?

My 2001 TD4, I found the full-beam won't stay on when I pull on the stalk back when driving at night with the dipped beam on as normal.

I recall when it did work, there was a click... but I don't remember if this was from a mechanical click in the stalk, or if the click comes from a relay somewhere. All I know is I can only get full-beam if I hold the stalk back as if flashing someone while driving.

There is no 'feel' or sound of any mechanical switching in the stalk.

Can anyone advise?

There's a mechanical lock in the stalk that holds it on main beam. If it's not holding, then a new stalk should fix it
