Does the cold weather effect the fuel pump?i had new fuel pump fitted few month back and normally can hear it priming for about 2 mins then it stops and I start the engine.this morning i could only hear it for about 30 seconds then it struggled to start it took about 15 seconds to crank over.

Personally I'd be tempted to think it was a blocked filter. Diesel would probably become more viscous at low temps, but not enough to effect a pump I'd have thought, but an already clogged filter could be a different matter...

Forgot to add mate I had fuel filter changed at same time.was about 8 month ago I think.think I'll try some of that millers injector cleaner and see if that makes difference just seemed strange it didn't prime as long.

A gotcha. Hmm.. no idea then. Maybe if the pump is on it's last legs, the cold can throw the resistance out and make it struggle?

I've had after market pumps last less time. The cold weather normaly finished them off! Ask for a replacement while its still under warranty bud..

Cheers,I'll put the diesel cleaner in and see how it goes and see if I can get pump replaced if not.
If it was a Britpart (****part) pump it might well have failed.
Or you could have summer diesel that has waxed with low temperatures. There has been a spate of problems with blocked filters recently perhaps due to contaminated diesel, not sure which areas of the country were affected.
