What's so special about genuine service history from main dealers ?? they do no more than a good independent or a careful owner. In my experience they are over glorified "Fixers", yet people still put them on a pedestal.
There is nothing specialised about servicing a Land Rover, just follow the schedule...thats all they do.
Independent servicing (Including owners) will not show up on any database so therefore anyone checking would think that the car has not been serviced since the last main dealer stamp. In reality, it's more than likely been better looked after than if those morons with a LR badge on their overalls had been let loose on it. They are not interested in saving you money, just screwing you for as much as possible.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who serviced the motor, just that it was done well and regularly irregardless off putting a stamp on the book.
People have been spending too much time listening to Wheeler Dealers and other purists who are living in a dream world.

Hi Laura
If you go into any main dealers service department , or phone them. Give them your reg no and vin no they should be able to tell you the main dealer background of your vehicle. Also whether it's had any recalls sorted out. It's also worth speaking to any previous owners you can track down to find out what jobs they have done.it's a bit like doing a giant jigsaw puzzle! This is a great site for help though and there's a wealth of knowledge. Main dealer history isn't everything. Previous owners info can be way more usefull. Good luck..

You could try Nicola from LR Customer Service who popped up in anything goes a while back but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm with Irish on this one. My Rangie diesel gets it's oil and filter changed every 3,000 miles and new coolant every winter. This will never appear on it's history. I've been inside all of the doors and the tailgate and lubricated all of the mechanisms, I don't see this on the service schedule. I've had the seats out and checked and cleaned all of the electrical connectors under them (and found £4.23 in change). I know how the car should feel and investigate anything that doesn't seem right and repair or replace before things go wrong. No, I haven't got a main dealer service history but I've got RAVE so I know how long I can leave things and then do them long before LR reckoned they needed to be done.

No it's not for sale but when SWMBO sells it, after my funeral, somebody is going to get a cracking car, without a service history.

:D
