rate then, i've been trawling through here researching this "mondo mode" thing. is it really as simple as remove front and rear prop shaft and supports then the leave VCU hanging in the wind? and how much MPG / performance would i expect to gain?

yu can just remove front (or rear) prop.

just read a thread about someone's brake drum dropping off with the rear removed so i think I'll go for the front.

Take the whole lot off if its just for the summer, around 20% fuel saving, possibly 25% at a squeeze on proper road driving at the 55mph.

Considering the rapid rise in fuel costs, around 28p per litre since I bought the FL, I'd say its worthwhile.

If you are travelling the length of the country to an off-road venue, then remove the rear half of the prop and throw it in the boot, then refit when you arrive and go 4wd again.

Cheers NI, I'll get on to it this weekend. don't really do off roading yet, not got the right wheels for it. but i am driving down to kent soon which is a good 230 mile drive so i could do with saving some petrol for that.
