Had an air leak on my disco recently resulting in it running rough as anything, turned out to be a little rubber/resin component on the LPG part of the truck called the stepper motor/actuator that had failed and been half sucked into the unit, see pic it should be where the hole is behind the plate with the philips screws.
Im ordering a new one but was tempted to just blank the hole. What stopped me was the thought that it failed for a reason, perhaps to stop something worse happening further down the line?
Ive removed the part and replaced it with a pipe for now and shes running great but was wondering why it went in the 1st place and what i can do to stop it from happening again? (not even too sure what the part does to be honest, it looks like a little piston inside moves up and down responding to sensors and increases/decreases the air gap to either let less or more gas through-something to do with fuel economy apparently-any ideas much appreciated)
