Also just to add..Ive got to like em,,,Each to their own,but do note that the super low profile tyres they have to run on do mean (as a few people said they would off this site) that absolute ANY curb,no matter how steady you are will dink ya alloys!!!
I count myself as a good driver,,but in the 3 months ive had them,a nervous woman comming the other way half in my lane pushed me up the curb,,,Dink no1
And a lorry blocking half a lane and traffic each way meant a very slow climb up a curb at a big angle ( 4 people up ) resulted in them getting marked again....

Lorry, fair enuff - but 'nervous woman' and 'pushed me up the curb' are just two things which should never occur in the same sentance when you're driving 3 tons of Range Rover unless you are the nervous woman!

"........you're driving 3 tons of Range Rover unless you are the nervous woman!"

....................................................................................................

Perhaps i never explained the whole story properly, but i was trying to word things diplomatically as i know we have lady members......
The "nervous woman" who pulled out half on my side of the road with young children on board.I decided the curb and a dink in my alloy was a better choice!
Im quite sure if it was a guy who'd done it,that there would be a very good chance i would still be picking pieces of dead BMW out of my 295 x 22's tread as we speak! As i may have taken the shorter route of BMW Bonnet-Roof-Boot-Home...

I appreciate that i never went into great detail of the story and circumstances, but was just trying to give a little info/advise to the original poster, who had put up the question for some help, and so didnt think a long story was required..

I was only trying to point out the fact that however careful you are, with 22" wheels and the resulting 30/35 profile tyres required, the slightest bounce up kerb or bad pothole in the road will mark your alloys..

My wife runs 40's on her V70R and we have done 3 alloys+tyres in the past year on potholes so my advice would be, go ahead but be prepared to dip into your pocket to replace alloys and tyres.

I disagree with most of the comments here.

I have a l322 4.4 v8 and i have 22" alloys fitted and i love it!

I disagree that they look too big! i have a dark blue one with black rims with chrome lip and they look perfect, its the choice is wheel the guy who had the reflex style on they jusy look too big because of the style of the wheel.

Also i have had the wheels a few months now and not touch one curb not mark them not close calls anything you just have to drive carefully, ive allways had sports cars and low profile tires so my driving will be different to most range rover drivers who are used to jumping up curbs on driving them like they are 4x4s im used to impreza p1's pulsars gtirs cars that you cant do that with so i dont drive my range rover like that.

The engine comment, i found no difference at all with the power delivery or top speed nothing, the 22" wheels have the overall same size as the 18" wheels i took off so the speedo reads correct, the only thing is when you at lights it want to crawl very very slightly more so just put it in neutral instead of leaving it in drive with foot on brake but thats bad habit anyway so wheels have sorted that out for me.

End of day everybody wants different things from there range rover mine is never going to go off road or up curbs its just for cruising round in and looking good.

Ill post picture up if i get chance, well if you want to see it ha ha
