Wether the 2000 model TD5 ES manual, has a clutch damper?

Have still got slack clutch pedal, which is going into a dealer to be looked at in the New Year, but wondered what the part on the inner wing is.

Pipe comes out of master cylinder, through what ever this little valve is and then down to slave.

If it is a damper, what are they designed to do?

Cheers,

OM

Had a look on my CD and there is no mention anywhere of a clutch damper - just master cylinder and slave .
I have a 01 Td5 myself but its blowing hard and lashing rain outside at the moment so I don't want to lift the bonnet as it could be swept away . Will have a look when things calm down as what you describe sounds like a damper but no sign of it on the CD .
Did your problem develop suddenly or over time ?

Well its a bit of a long story really, as posted in a thread a few weeks back, but basically I bought a 2000 model TD5 ES manual locally for less than half its value as the owner was fed up with spending money on it and ordered himself another new one.

Basically the history is, it seems to have a slack clutch pedal for the first half of its travel. On engaging gears, as soon as you lift your toes she is off!

I bought the vehicle last month, it has been stood around since March time until August, when the previous owner decided to sell it. His son noticed that that there was a vibration so they had it checked out. £700 later it supposedly had a new flywheel and clutch assembly. We boought it with only 200 miles on it since the clutch was fitted and had all the hydraulics replaced thinking it must be air leaking in, but it is still the same. It has a total of 90,000 mles on it with ful history.

Does any one kow if the TD5 suffers with the same problems with the release arm that the TD300 has?

I cannot find reference to what looks like a damper unit either, and I have looked through my work shop discs several times.

Unless any one has any suggestions, my plan was to find a Landy dealer in the New Year, try a different vehicles clutch pedal for comparison and go from there.

Would really like to know what this funny little thing on the inner wing is though!

the funny little thing on the inner wing is a clutch switch which is used as part of the engine management, it instantly cuts the revs when the clutch is pressed for gear changes.

Your fault is more than likely caused by the slave cylinder, its a common fault on the Td5.

Clutchdust, you cant have read the post properly then my old fruit, cos I changed both the master and slave cylinders!
