Hi all, Hope someone out there can help me. Not used my 96, 300 tdi since new years eve, went out to start her the other day after the so called coldest night. When i was turning her over she was sluggish but refused to start, cranking slowly, duff bat i figured. Went out the following day around lunch time, put the key in started first time on the button like normal, ive been told i could have water in the fuel which is freezing with the weather? is this possible would this cause the symtoms i descibe?

Batteries don't like the cold sounds like yours might not be 100% healthy. If you had water or any other ****e in the fuel it wouldn't start next day either.

Sounds like she's got Man Flu......lol
Have you tried charging the battery or jumping from a running vehicle, but I wouldn't have thought that you would have water in the fuel as she would have had time to warm up a little- if you went out at dinner time.
I could be wrong about the fuel though.

i have exact same prob , on my 96 landy .

charged it over night , but still the same , does this mean i need a new one:confused:
Probably. Check your alternator is putting out enough juice while you're at it. Diesels need a lot of battery power to turn them over fast enough to start in cold weather.

Measure the voltage after it's been left for a while, it should read at least 12.5v Any less & the battery is getting too old.
