Hello

New to the Landy world. I don't own one yet.....but I will oh yes!. Need to rid myself of the pesky ECUs and return to a simpler time. I own Cortina 1600e so know about the grief (from wife and car), but thats part of the fun!

Need advice on what to get

Want a Series 3 SWB/LWB

Options are
1. Buy Petrol convert to unleaded and LPG it.
2. Buy Petrol already converted to LPG-Bit picky on others work
3. Buy diesel- make as efficient as poss (I know)
4. Buy diesel with intention to convert to 200tdi
5. Buy diesel already converted to 200tdi.

The Landy is to be a 2nd car doing 40 miles a day (not motorways). I will have to do some refinements inside so the wife will be happy

but other than that i just want the world.

Cheers:rolleyes:

you may wish to confirm your other half has some ability to withstand temperature extremes as heating and cooling are refinements slightly lacking from most series landys

6. Buy petrol, leave it totally original other than fitting electronic ignition (maybe even Mega Squirt)

on the basis that recouping the cost of an LPG kit is going to take eons if you are just doing 40 miles per day

The other half can't stand the cold so I'll buy her some long Johns for the winter and a hand held fan for the summer!

The thought of a bog std petrol had cross my mind. I assume you mean a Lumenition type elec ignition, but what the smeg is a Mega Squirt?!?

Did also thing about a gasflowed head as a sensible addition.

cheers

snigger fuel burning heater or if she's a witch -bonfire

Nice suggestion. There is a downside to it though, who will steer when I'm pushing after a breakdown.

Any of you guys use the noisekiller products?(for a landy not the wife), are they any good?

slowly edging towards a SWB diesel NA to convert later possibly.

 landies don't break down..................................they just like to take a rest every so often:D:D
i notice you are a real gentleman tho letting her steer, most on here would have the wife doing the pushing:D

hand held fan???? wtf do you think the bulk head vents are for? its old skool air con! ;)

and heating is over rated, just get yourself a good pair of cold weather wellies (the only road vehicle designed to be driven in wellies)

Secured the cash now on the hunt for my Landy!

Hang on G-man I thought wellies were for those of a certain persuasion to tuck the back legs of a sheep into! Anyway I thought when you drive through puddles you're meant to put your legs out and go weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....... so you feet stay dry and warm...is this not right!:D
