Do I Need to remove

I am going to remove the propshaft to make my 1.8 freelander a 2 wheel drive.
have seen a lot about how to do this. But my question is do I need to remove the
final drive from the IRD unit and if a blanking plate or can i just leave it in place.

If you really have to, just take off the props and VCU - leave the IRD output as is. Why remove the props anyway, just as the weather is set to become more wintry ??

Unless you need to remove the prop because of a faulty VCU, don't do it.
All the advice you have been given about saving fuel, or a 2WD FL being better, is complete BS.

Thank you but I need to as the VCD is faulty will get a new one and fit it at some time but not within the next 6 months or so. So to keep it up and running will remove the prop

In that case, just remove the prop. It should be fine like that (unless it snows!).

Snow if only and for you up there in somerset it all water not snow

I run FL 1.8 ran it for 3 months with no prop..waiting for recon....and no difference to note on fuel

Less than 0.2 of 1 mpg on my V6. That includes having to drive it more carefully due to wheel spin
