I'll have to keep an eye out for you. I live about two miles from Hemel.

I have a blue 83 series 3 :)

Best of luck with the restoration.

Today I managed to find a nice pair of extended rear shackles ( 1 ton ) on eBay. Also got a set of fronts from jai earlier on in the month.

After doing some inspections at the weekend the front springs appear to be in good condition so for now I am only going to replace the rear springs and put the extended shackles all round to give me a little extra.

I have fitted my 7.50 - 16 extra tractions but on Swb rims for now as going to re paint the 8 spokes limestone when the pair arrives. One issue that has already popped up is that they rub on the front springs on lock haha.

As you can see above i spent the morning putting on my newly aquired rear 1 Ton shackles, To my supprise the old shackles come un done relativley easily.
The pictures of the Green machine are after the shackles were fitted.

As the fronts have not had extended hangers it will alter the propshaft to diff angle. If your springs are good check the propshaft knuckles are not hitting each other.
Has been done for years to get round replacing flattened springs. Back not such an issue as you are rotating axle into straighter line for propshaft.

You can defiantly notice the difference in height, all the series owners I have discussed it with have either done it them selves or recommended it. Have you thought about it then ?

i've considered it, but i'm actually going to wait until the projects complete or i won't have anything to compare the driving too. it's already quite a bit taller on the para's i wouldn't want it being top heavy as i speed around bends :)
