i have a TD4 on 52 plate and it has developed a knocking around the auxillary belt area that is increasing in volume pretty quickly - i put it into a garage and they changed the idler pully and said my hydraulic steering pump is on the way out and sent me on my not so merry way
!! i have looked at it myself and the knocking appears to be from the crankshaft pully - i have read in one of the threads that the pully has an inbuilt vibration damper and think this is the cause.
before i reluctantly depart with a wedge of cash on the possible wrong part - has anyboby experienced the same problem or have any other ideas?
